Info Overload And How To Organize Your Internet Marketing Information
One of the biggest problems for an aspiring internet marketer is what’s become known as info overload. Most people have been there and they know how it affects your performance at making money on the internet.
You get pulled in many directions by guru after guru, email after email until you get lost in a whirlwind of information. The confusion in your head eventually leads to procrastination, as you don’t know what you need to do next.
Digital dust is gathering…
Here’s the problem.
This info overload is not just in your head. It sits on your hard drive as gigabytes of files that you downloaded in the feverish excitement at starting your internet business.
Most of it would have been free as an enticement to subscribe to someone’s list and some of it paid for after getting swept up in all the hype of the ‘next big thing’. Much of it will have been regurgitated information that told you nothing really new, but you downloaded it anyway on the off chance you might find out something to your advantage. Some of it you will never get round to reading anyway.
But it seemed such a good idea at the time…
As you may already know, at the time you downloaded all this internet marketing-related information you thought it would answer some burning questions you had. But after a quick read through to scan for the juiciest nuggets of information it was consigned to a folder on your hard drive and into obscurity. You then move onto the next ‘big thing’.
By now, you will know what a nightmare it can be organizing your IM downloads and your project information! In fact, creating a file system for storing downloads is a pain in the **** and even after spending hours thinking up categories and headings, it still doesn’t work properly.
The time you spend looking for stuff you have downloaded such as ebooks, reports, PLR etc., is time lost in building your internet business, and can never be reclaimed. Running a business like this simply won’t work in the long run so it is time to get organized.
Time to get organized…but where do you start?
Let’s face it. Your files need organizing into some kind of logical structure so that you can find them quickly - but how to do that is the burning question. Where do you start with such a complex task?
Someone who knows exactly how to organize information is Alex Goodall, an expert in knowledge management who has developed a system based on mind maps that will help you to quickly find your most important internet marketing files. He calls it the IM Index and that is exactly what it does. His system will show you how to index all your internet marketing files so that you can find them fast.
The time saving of this can be enormous not to mention removal of frustration.
What I find interesting about the IM Index is that it uses the power of mind maps. As you may know, internet marketing maven Rich Schefren uses these extensively. If it’s good enough for him then it is good enough for you.
And the beauty of using mind maps to find your information is because they are visual and that is the how the mind works best. It is more intuitive because a picture really does tell a thousand words.
Time saved is money saved…
The downside is that it will still take you time to create your personal system using the IM Index, but once it has been you will save heaps of time and frustration looking for files, and become a more efficient person as a result. But more importantly, the time saved is like money in the bank when you have an efficient internet business.
So, if your information is in a mess and you spend frustrating hours looking for something important then Alex Goodall’s IM Index could be the answer to your problem.
Another file to add to the pile?
I know what you are thinking but, unlike many free downloads, this one is really detailed and useful. In fact, it might be all you need to get yourself organized.
Alex Goodall has prepared a free 37-page report called ‘The Expert Guide to Organizing Your Internet Marketing Information‘, which you can download here.
It gives you valuable information on how to go about creating a system for organizing your Internet Marketing downloads and dealing with information overload.
Honestly, if you consider yourself an internet marketer you can’t afford to be haphazard in how you organize your business and having an easy-to-use system of organizing all your files is vital. It will free your mind and allow you more time to spend on building your internet business.
Like I said, the free report might be all you ever need but Im Index could well be the best solution to your information overload problems.
